I experienced chronic shoulder pain for over 7 months and my injury was not improving whatsoever. I had tried resting it and gradually increasing movement and exercise with it, however, my shoulder pain did not improve. I went to speak to Maria Hammond who suggested that it may be stress related and she worked holistically with me to reduce my pain.
Since working with Maria I have drastically reduced my pain levels in my shoulder. Mostly I am now pain free as a result of the advice that I was given; moreover, when I do feel a small amount of pain in my shoulder I now use techniques that can quickly highlight the source of the pain, allowing me to address the issue and remove the pain.
Maria allowed me to speak freely about what I thought were contributing to my stress induced chronic pain, this did not always lead to the cause of the pain, but instead built up a rapport so that I felt comfortable to honestly answer questions about myself which I may not have been comfortable with in the past. The sessions were informal whilst also maintaining a professional standard and for every question I asked, I was given a clear reply without complicated physio-jargon.
I would definitely encourage anyone who was unsure about joining the programme, after spending a few sessions talking through my shoulder pain, I have realized many things that I had not previously realised about myself, which has improved my motivation to exercise, as well as in my work life.
